A 32-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested Monday after authorities said he led deputies on a pursuit in an allegedly stolen pickup truck through Windsor and along Highway 101.
Penrotana Yath was taken into custody without incident after Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office personnel used Stop Sticks to puncture one of the truck’s tires near the Bicentennial Way overcrossing, according to the report. No injuries were reported.
The incident began at about 6:30 a.m., when authorities received a report of a stolen pickup truck. An Automated License Plate Recognition camera system later located the vehicle traveling south on Highway 101 near central Windsor.
When deputies attempted to stop the truck, the driver accelerated and fled, starting a pursuit through town. A deputy attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver, but it did not stop the vehicle, according to the report.
The pursuit continued north of Windsor before the truck turned around and headed south on Highway 101. A sheriff’s sergeant then deployed the tire-deflation devices near the overcrossing, slowing the truck until it stopped safely.
The pickup was recovered and returned to its registered owner, according to the report.
Yath was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on listed charges including vehicle theft, felony evading a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, violation of a court order and felony theft with prior convictions. The charges are allegations, and the booking does not establish guilt.
