A 9-year-old boy suffered significant injuries Tuesday night when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Yulupa Avenue in Santa Rosa, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
The collision occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Yulupa Avenue. Police said the child was taken by ambulance to a regional trauma center.
Investigators believe the boy was in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a white Ford Mustang driven by a 41-year-old Santa Rosa man. Police were working to determine whether the crosswalk lights were activated at the time of the collision.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors, and authorities had not determined how fast the vehicle was traveling.
The investigation is ongoing. Police asked anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information to contact investigator Anthony Matteri.
